NNA speaks as CS Namwamba responds to the attack of Busia Nurse.

Woman captured in a video harassing a Nurse in Busia.

An unidentified woman was captured on video harassing health workers demanding preferential treatment for her relative.

The woman, and friend claimed to know CS Ababu Namwamba.

The woman disclosed to the nurse that she is connected to Namwamba and threatened to call him to show how well she was CONNECTED.

Some Netizens have said “wako sawa” because hospitals can mistreat you while others have condemned them for arrogance.

Ababu Namwamba distance self:

Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Sports and Youth Affairs Ababu Namwamba has broken his silence to a viral video of the rowdy woman.

The CS expressed disapproval of the actions displayed and vowed to ‘thoroughly investigate’ the reported behaviour which ‘does not align with his values or commitment to public service’.

NNA-KENYA response:

The National Nurses Association of Kenya (NNA-Kenya), is a professional association representing all cadres of nurses in Kenya drawn from practice settings, education and research
institutions.

Established in 1968, we are duly registered under Cap 108 of the laws of Kenya.

We have branches in all the 47 counties across the country. We exist to promote excellence in nursing and midwifery practices.

The National Nurses Association of Kenya condemns in the strongest terms possible the unfortunate attack of a nurse at Port Victoria Hospital in Busia County while in her line of duty.

The provocative savage attack to a nurse allegedly by a relative of a politician was heinous, extreme and uncalled for in totality.

We inform our members that the individual involved in the abusive altercation is not a student nurse – Nurses under training are inducted with discipline and professionalism.

We have since established that the offender is a Theatre technician student, attached to KUTRRH Theatre on rotation and listed as a student from Nairobi Women Hospital.

We call on the regulating authorities for such cadres to take responsibility and urgently address the matter with the seriousness it deserves as we seek remedial measures to mitigate the damage caused to a professional nurse.

We are liaising with relevant legal institutions to ensure that the unfortunate debacle is exhaustively addressed.

We thank the targeted nurse and all our members for remaining calm and resilient while we handle the matter professionally.
