The former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has been reportedly arrested over corruption allegations.
He was arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The former Kagamega boss was arrested alongside his two wives.
The graft and economic crimes were reportedly committed during his tenure as county boss.
The Orange Democratic Movement ODM confirmed the arrest through its Twitter handle.
However, ODM clarified that no information was provided concerning the arrest.
“Our DPL Gov’ WOparanya has been arrested by officers from the DCI Kenya. Oparanya together with his wife Madam Priscillah are currently at the EACC offices at Integrity Centre.”
Adding: “No information has been given as to why they have been arrested & why they are being questioned.”
