President William Ruto key messages on the Universal Health Coverage Agenda during the Labour day Celebrations according to presidential spokesperson Hussein Muhamed:
“We will have a paradigm shift in delivering healthcare in Kenya. We are moving from curative to preventive and promotive health services.’
“100,000 Community Health Promoters (CHP) countrywide and each community health promoter will be responsible over 100 households.’
“Each CHP will be equipped with kits to diagnose simple non-communicable diseases – hypertension, diabetes, obesity etc.’
“They will also be equipped with the necessary gagdets for registration of all households and the data collected will be essential in policy planning.’
“Payment of their (CHP’s) stipends will be based on a 50:50 matching contributory mechanism with County Governments.’
“From July this year, the NHIF contributory mechanim will be restructured by introducing a flat rate of 2.75% of gross incomes.’
“Kenyans paying ksh 500 to NHIF will be controbuting from kshs 300 per month and the President, currently paying kshs 1,700 will pay 27,500 f to provide equity in contribution of premiums.”
