The former Mukurueni MP Kabando Wa Kabando has hit out at those who invaded president Uhuru Kenyatta’s farm in Northern bypass
In a long Twitter post, Kabando detailed that the invasion of Kenyatta’s Northlands, by Kikuyus (majority from Kiambu), should ring a warning bell, a time bomb.
He says it’s POLITICAL & ILLEGAL. But underlying this CRIMINAL act is a deep community grievance.
“I once read Mau Mau’s Mzee Gítú Kahengeri notes on Northlands transaction.Holoi poloi, proletariat, peasants in Kiambu, indeed most Kikuyus, community, have no sympathies on Kenyattas on the Land Question.”
He remarked that the resentment is deepest in Ichaweri. Unfortunately, Uhuru never used his presidency to mend. Evicting urban poor Ruai, Kariobangi, aggravated it.
“We successfully lobbied President Kibaki on Nyeri squatter problem. It was partly solved, with tacit compassionate help of First Lady Lucy.”
Unfortunately, Kabando noted, as in Mau Mau settlement, it’s public dormain over 50% of Solio ranch was grabbed by greedy elites and politically connected.
Kabando started that Raila a stateman. Questions being asked around: he rushed to Wanjigi, Matiang’i, Uhuru properties when under siege. That’s true friendship. But victims of Uhuru’s evictions in Ruai, Kariobangi, and their sympathisers are all-over asking where all this compassion in their case.
21 yrs after retiring, and years after his death, Kabando recalled, many land cases against President Moi continue.
This, according to Kabando, is despite Kibaki and Uhuru giving Moi retirement generous benefits and protection.
“It’s 45 yrs since Jomo died, but a village land case involving a kin still in court. Why? Kenya’s Land Question is sensitive, divisive, deadly. It’ll explode, even without criminal political instigation.”
Kabando further details that attack on Kenyatta’s Northlands serves to warn us all of the vulnerabilities we live in.
He said if not addressed elaborately, we are all in peril. “It’s not just about Uhuru.”
Evident that invaders of Northlands were organised and facilitated by Ruto’s UDA regime Kikuyu high commanders. Send a Kikuyu to finish a Kikuyu.
But notwithstanding Agíkùyú regrets on Uhuru, these culprits must know their reign terminal is nigh. You can’t politically survive it.
“Amidst din, notoriety of Northlands invasion, the jury is out there. Kenya can’t survive the contrast of hosting amongst Africa’s richest dollar billionaires and most landed gentry against the poorest. Divide between Kenya’s rich and poor is CRIMINAL.”
Kabando advises that we should resolve Land Question “To meliorate myriad of livelihood maladies, let’s resolve to finish impunity and corruption.”
“If Uhuru did it, the neighbouring communities would be his bulwark against external threats. But now they’re a threat. A ship of affluence in a sea of want sails rickety. not sustainable” Said Kabando
He says if we invade to destroy private property, we’ll go Zimbabwe way. Not good. Yet, amidst abject poverty, majority can’t care. Mugabe wasn’t a villain to all. “Conscientiously and on law, we stand with Uhuru. But we care more about poor of my community, my country. Justice to all.”
