The Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has expressed gratitude to international Partners after receiving donation to help the famine striken areas.
“We are grateful to our International Partners whose donation of 25,000MT of wheat we received and flagged off today to counties affected by famine at the Port of Mombasa.” Gachagua said.
The second in command detailed that the Gov’t has received 16000MT in addition to 25000MT of sorghum from USA through USAID. The grains were reportedly bought from Ukraine farmers.
“In addition, we have received with gratitude 16,000MT of sorghum from the USA through USAID.The grain was purchased from farmers of Ukraine 🇺🇦.” Said Gachagua.
“In a special way, H.E. President @WilliamsRuto and I, as well as the people of Kenya 🇰🇪, we thank Ukraine for their support despite being in the middle of war. We applaud you.”
He added “We deeply appreciate the countries who purchased the food – United Kingdom 🇬🇧 , Norway 🇳🇴 , Belgium 🇧🇪, Italy 🇮🇹 , Netherlands 🇳🇱 , Switzerland 🇨🇠, Slovenia 🇸🇮 , and Czech Republic 🇨🇿. I recognise the critical role played by the @WFP, which facilitated the delivery.”
