Odinga says there’s a conspiracy to transfer thugs to Azimio peaceful mass action
Azimio La Umoja planned mass action on Monday, March 20, will be peaceful, Raila Odinga said.
In an interview with TV47 on Saturday, March 18, Raila urged all Kenyans and businesses not to worry about their protests, saying Nairobi metropolis will be peaceful.
Speaking on TV47, Odinga said “Maandamano yetu yatakuwa ya amani. Watu wetu wote watakuwa wamebeba vitambaa vyeupe, wengine watabeba bendera za Kenya ili kuonyesha sisi ni watu wa amani,”
However, he claimed the Kenya Kwanza Gov’t is plotting to blame the opposition coalition by sending rebellious youths on a procession to cause chaos and destroy property.
“Tunajua kuna njama ya kuleta majambazi wengine walete vurugu, waharibu biashara ya wengine alafu sisi tulaumiwe. Tunataka kuambia taifa letu la Kenya ijulikane kuwa kama kutakuwa na fujo yeyote haitakuwa sisi. Wafanyibiashara wote wajue sisi tunataka uchumi uimarishwe, tunapigania wanyonge na hatuwezi kufanya chochote cha kuwadhulumu,” He said.
The opposition chief urged police to provide security and ensure such evil plans do not occur.
Raila Odinga said the coalition sent a letter to the police to inform them of Monday’s massive protests.
The Azimio letter to Nairobi OCS reads: “We notify you that on Monday, March 20, 2023, we will be holding a procession within the Nairobi metropolitan area. Kindly provide us with security for the same.”
