Bata, a shoe manufacturing company, has come out to refute claims of closing down its business in Kenya.

In a press release signed by Managing Director, the company says it is on the normal annual maintenance.

“We are on a normal annual maintenance shut down, normally provided for during off peak season.” The managing director said.

It is the leading reportedly the footwear company in Kenya with a widespread network of over 150 stores and a Bata world-class factory.

“We are a heritage business, strategic in operations for robust commercial output, thus seasonal breaks in production are within scope.” The company said.
