The Azimio boss Raila Amolo Odinga has hit out president William Ruto, accusing him of trying to suspend the constitution by banning protest.
The opposition chief, who spoke to the media shortly after Ruto’s speech on Labour Day noted that the planned demonstration will be in place.
Odinga blamed Ruto for turning the state House into a religious cult.
“In Shakahola, Ruto is as guilty as those he is seeking to investigate,” Raila Odinga Sunday 1st May.
Odinga claimed that “In May 2022 Ruto and his family claimed to have prayed for impure borehole water at their residence and turned into clean drinking water. The claim is not different from claims made by cult pastors performing fake miracles and extorting money from believers. Ruto is the leader of the cult movement disguised as Christianity in Kenya.”
Odinga pointed out that it president William Ruto who encouraged the mushrooming of religious cults in Kenya by “making State House a Shakahola Annex”.
“Our peaceful demonstrations are on tomorrow, the 2nd of May 2023 as scheduled. We shall resist any attempts to take Kenya back to dictatorship” said Odinga.
Odinga further state that their will be no destruction of properties in Tuesday’s protest.
“We assure Mr. Ruto that there will be no destruction of people’s property during our peaceful protests tomorrow. There are no businesses along the streets we are intending to hold our demonstrations tomorrow,” stated Raila Odinga.
