The Kenya Kwanza administration never promised cheap power, according to UDA Economist David Ndii.
In a statement via his twitter, Ndii, who is a social media enthusiast says. “For the umpteenth time time wecdid not promise cheap power.”
He reminded Kenyans that the Kenya Kwanza administration was after stabilization of the Kenya Power Limited Company and it’s financial capability.
“For the umpteenth time time we did not promise cheap power. We made it clear the our top priority is to turn around KPLC stabilize stabilize the industry financially, so that it continues to be bankabl

David had shared a graph showing the utilisation of cost plant which he captioned: “Chart from LCPDP 2021-2030 showing capacity utilization/cost for plants required in the system. KenGen portfolio occupies bottom right (low cost) IPPs top left (high cost). IPPs dont chose where to operate, govt does. IPP bogeyman cacaphony is white noise.”
Mutua Mutuku, in a reaction, hit out the Economist saying “Kenyans don’t need this graphs, when you promised cheap electricity you were aware of the current situation and you committed to make it better for Kenyans.”
In his reply, Ndii reminded Mutuku that they misunderstood the Kenya Kwanza during campaign.
“Do you have evidence this promise was made or you just repeat what gutter press say? Yes we want the top 7 IPPs charges revisited but let’s not cling to a promise that was never made.” Joe Kimachia stated
