Rachel Ruto inspressed by desert turned green in Israel, offers to plant 500M trees in 10 years.

Rachel Ruto, together with her husband president William Samoe Ruto are in Israel for bilateral talks.


The first lady accompanied President William Ruto on Tuesday, in planting a tree at the Grove of Nations in Jerusalem Forest, Israel.

The first lady, was impressed seeing the region that was a desert now forested and greened. She says the forest was created where there was none.

“Israel which is largely a desert has successfully managed an impressive greening program and has created forests where there were none. This inspires us as Kenyans to restore ours.”

Rachael note that her office will plant 500 millions trees in 10 years.

“My office has committed to plant 500 million trees in 10 years, as a proactive way of addressing climate change.”
